Voices from the Warehouse District III
|
Dear Friends: Congratulations to all on a fantastic Opening and Artist's Reception for the Voices From The Warehouse District Exhibition! The semi official count for opening night was 635 people who entered the space and experienced the show. Thank you to the artists for your investment of time and resources to make this event a major success. I have had numerous comments on the eclectic nature of the show and the broad spectrum of artistic expression. Each artist and actor stepped up to the challenge with a full commitment to utilize the warehouse environment to the fullest. The show looks great with cool art and energy. Congratulations and deep gratitude to each artist and to your support groups! We can not pull off an event of this magnitude with out dedicated support groups. This support is not as obvious as art hanging from a gallery, yet it is an essential aspect of the show. Converting a 22 thousand square foot warehouse into an art gallery would be impossible without a legion of friends and family who are committed to the cultural benefit of the Voices project. Thanks to each of you...a thousand thanks to each of you. There are those people whose support came in generous amounts and at crucial times. Among them are my wife Jane who provides a wide range of assistance on every level on my life. Your patience is laudable and your stamina unceasing. I appreciate and love you. My brother Ken was literally and figuratively my right hand man. Ken, I now there is only one of you but it sure seems like there are more! Katherine Kluseman was new at the show this year but I would have sworn she was a veteran. Kay has taken a lot of pressure off of my shoulders with her management skills. Veterans bring experience and wisdom, and for these contributions I would like to thank Bill Farrell. Bill has been a sage since the original Voices show and provides a source of reason and insight which has been indispensable. Fran and Ellen Henkels' food presentation was stunning! I have heard such good comments on the magnificent food offering. This task is in and of itself an major undertaking and the Henkels have excelled once again. Thank you Fran and Ellen for the soul and the food and for adding flavor to our lives. I hope your kitchen floor is salvageable! To the community... for showing up. Without your interest and incredible support and participation, there simply would be no Voices. Last but not least I would like to thank our sponsors for trusting in the vision of Voices From the Warehouse District. The Dubuque Museum of Art, Premier Bank, Iowa Arts Council, Wilmac Property Company, Mission Creative, Francis Henkels Attorney, 365INK and Dubuque365.com all deserve a huge applause for placing financial investment in the show. I hope that each of these entities prosper from your investment and that the good will generated from this show benefits your many interests. Special thanks to Tim McNamara at Wilmac Property Company. Without your generosity this ship would have no ocean on which to sail. As your guest curator for the Voices From The Warehouse District I hope all of you hear my heart felt voice of appreciation for your efforts. I am humbled to work with you and grateful to experience the diverse set of energies each of you bring to this experience. Together we are increasing the energetic vibration in our spheres of influence. It is in this energetic level where we find and share peace, understanding, compassion and joy. The show will run for a month with many special events in store. Be sure to check out the www.voiceswarehouse gallery.com for schedules. Check
