Landslide
A giant retaining wall collapsed as a landslide spilled massive limestone blocks and earth yesterday into the house of Craig Kowalski's Grove Terrace home in downtown Dubuque. Craig, or CAK as his friends call him, is indeed a good friend of ours at 365. Uh, man Craig, that sucks, dude! No one was hurt, not even his cat. But there's plenty of damage. Maybe living on Main street wasn't such a bad idea after all, eh Cak. Aside from closing the famously narrow steep street to many of Dubuque's landmark bluff side homes, this looks like one heck of a reconstruction project for some unlucky contractor. I'd say they don't make em' like they used to... but heck, this is how they used to make em'. - Photos by Mike Ironside.
