2004 Dubuque Jaycees / Radio Dubuque Fireworks on the Mississippi
With a downpour of rain that seemed to last all day, a cancellation of nearly
all of the incredible air show painstakingly planned all year by Radio
Dubuque's Perry Mason, and fireworks greatly obscured by smoke that
hung in dead air, you'd think the day was a wash. But looking back,
we find we still had a great time. Thanks to the Dubuque Jaycees, the
Four stations of Radio Dubuque (KAT-FM, KDTH, KGRR, and The River)
and all the sponsors who brought this incredible annual event to Dubuque.
We hear the view from the river itself was actually great and the smoke
didn't obscure the view. So people like Presidential candidate John
Kerry would have had a great view, if indeed he took to a boat as was
planned, to enjoy the event. Just tells you how big and how important
the fireworks are that we draw such dignitaries and such an impressive list of aircraft to entertain the audience. It's just
too bad the planes couldn't stick around. Thanks to everyone who let
us take your picture when you were a little damp. No amount of rain
could damage some people's spirits and we applaud you for it. We'll
see you all again next year, same time, same place. Hold the weather.
