A Beautiful Weekend in the Diggs
So much for rainy skies. Since the weather broke on Friday afternoon, it got
better and better all weekend. Good news for the 2nd Annual New Diggings
Music Festival. Beautiful skies meant a big crowd for the venerable
Sunday hotspot in Southwest Wisconsin. Hosted by the two biggest
draws in New Digging's, New Digging's General Store and Inn (a.k.a.
The Diggs... operated by Lou and 365's own Kelli Kerrigan) and Anton's
Saloon, the even draws not just the obvious biker crowd, but families,
pets and music lovers from 6 months old to 100 years and six months
old.

We made our visit to the two day celebration on Sunday afternoon, in time to
catch Laura and the Longhairs and the MSB Band (Mighty Short Bus).
The hundreds in attendance enjoyed not just the music, but legendary
food (mmmm... BBQ pork!!!!), great goodies for sale and perhaps a cold
beer or two. What a great and unique setting for a music festival.
But then again, New Diggings is about as unique a place as you can
find in these parts. The long grassy stretch of the festival grounds
runs along the banks of a bubbling stream with cows looking at the
party. And the party spilled out of the festival area and right back
into the bars. Beautiful bikes from Harley's to Schwinn's lined the
streets of the town while old friends caught up with each others, and
new friends found they had a lot in common. It's really was a special
atmosphere and we had a great time. There are two big pages of photos
of the day below. Don't forget to click page two for the second half
of the gallery! Photos by Bryce Parks. |
