We didn't expect to see a lot change since we had last visited Grand Harbor just days earlier, but it is amazing how brisk the pace of work can be when you have a deadline looming. We intended to get some great shots of the Dubuque skyline at dusk from atop the hotel. We got there a bit late and it was darker than we had hoped. We stayed anyway and took a few more shots of the Resort. And what a shoot it was...

First of all, we were thrilled to find water running throughout the park. The slides were gushing water and the fountains were spraying. Having seen the progress for the last year, it was very exciting for us to see the park come to life. Since Friday they had also installed the basketball hoops, soda fountains, finished more painting, and were installing heavy rope fences around the lazy river. The parks was also very clean. Not too many tools and parts laying around anymore. It seems primed for an unveiling. This weekend they begin training their 64 lifeguards through the elite Ellis® training school.

We have a few more shots of guest room interiors. While the main public areas of the hotel experiment with amazing bold colors, the guest rooms are much more quaint and refined. Dark wood furniture adorned with brushed metal accessories adorn each room. The art in this room carries the pale green and grape color scheme that is found throughout the hotel. Other amenities include 27" color TV's, microwave ovens, refrigerators, coffee makers and irons in every room. The sofa in this room also pulls out into a third Double size bed.

We experimented A LOT with outdoor night pictures this time. Below you see just a dozen of nearly 200 photos we took outside the hotel. These are in large part, just artistic shots of the building. They do not highlight any new features, but they looked so cool we thought everyone might like to see them. In the end, our shots of the city skyline didn't turn out so hot, but the "Harry Potter-esque" images of the waterpark made the trip well worth while. We especially love the fourth photo in the fouth row.
