The hotel gets sheet rock and a bold glass face while the water park gets a lazy river and a huge water emitting contraption!

The Grand Harbor Resort and Waterpark makes great strides in a month. What was a dirt floor in the water park now boasts a nearly fully constructed center attraction. We don't know what you call it but it has about a thousand different way to get you wet built into it. We found the engineering of the "Willy Wonka" looking device interesting as it appears that the same pipes that give it structure and support also carry the water that fuels the machine. Someone must have sat in a cramped cubicle for a while to figure that one out. There is also a lazy river and a number of pools that were not there just a couple of weeks ago. It is really starting to take shape. Speaking of taking shape. The upper floors of the hotel are getting sheet rock (or drywall if you prefer) installed and mudded today. There are some amazing suites in the center of the hotel for some very lucky future guests. The façade of the hotel is also being applied now. It is nearly complete on the river facing side of the structure. You can see it well coming across the bridge from East Dubuque but we imagine the land view will catch up very soon. The most striking change without a doubt is the addition of the glass to the curved center portion of the hotel. Wow! What a bold sight will be waiting to welcome visitors to the hotel as they drive up. It is clear the the floors are being completed from the top down. The top floor is nearly fully sheet rocked while lower floors are still bare studs. It appears crews will cycle through the hotel. When the bottom floors are fully sheet rocked and the utilities are installed, the top floors will probably already be painted, detailed, and decorated. We are really looking forward to seeing that phase of the project come along. It won't be long now. As a matter of note, landscaping and foundation work has begun on the Education and Conference Center which is being built adjacent to the hotel and will be connected by a sky-walk.
