On
the First Saturday of October, the air is crisp,
you can see your breath and the color is radiant
on the bluffs near Cable Car Square. The shops
are vibrant with anticipation of the Tri States
Largest Chili Cookoff.
This
aspiring event started in 1992 as a CASI, (Chili
Association Society International) sanctioned
competetive event. As you stroll the street
many cooks will decorate their booths with themes,
cooks performing, singing, dancing, competing
for showmanship. Cooks can also enter Open,
Business, and Salsa Entries.
|
For
one hour, or until the pots are empty,
the public samples a taste of the best
tasting Chili in the Tri State area.
Proceeds benefit a nonprofit organization.
Each
year the event has grown, now including
a variety of great food vendors, beverages
from the Dubuque Jaycees, and a wealth
of entertainment options.
Our
Sponsors have been generous to help
provide forms of media, live entertainment,
and our Kids Korner full of games and
prizes.
